Fanis, çocukluğunu İstanbul’da geçirmiş bir Yunanlı gençtir. Hem bir filozof hem de bir akıl hocası olan büyükbabası, ona birçok şey öğretmiştir. Bu öğrettiği şeylerin en önemli olanı ise yemek yapmaktır. Fanis’in en büyük hayali tam olarak bir yetişkin olduktan sonra başarılı bir aşçı olmaktır.
