In a secluded house in a small seaside town live four unrelated men and the woman who tends to the house and their needs. All former priests, they have been sent to this quiet exile to purge the sins of their pasts, the separation from their communities the worst form of punishment by the Church. They keep to a strict daily schedule devoid of all temptation and spontaneity, each moment a deliberate effort to atone for their wrongdoings.
Tony Manero (2008), Post Mortem (2010) ve No (2012) filmleriyle tanınan yönetmen Pablo Larraín’in yeni filmi The Club’ın başlıca rollerinde Roberto Farias, Antonia Zegers, Alfredo Castro ve Alejandro Goic yer alıyor. Film Şili’de bir sahil kasabasında aynı evi paylaşan bir grup rahibin hayatını konu ediniyor. Berlin’de Büyük Jüri Ödülü alan film işledikleri suçlar yüzünden Kilise’den uzaklaştırılmış bir grup rahibin günahlarıyla yüzleşmesini, karanlık bir atmosfer ve sakince açılan bir hikâye örgüsüyle anlatıyor. Jüri Büyük Ödülü’nü kazandığı Berlin Film Festivali’nde Darren Aronofsky başkanlığındaki jüriyi kendine hayran bırakmış ve tüm eleştirmenlerden tam not almıştı.
